JAMZ TALKS: THE DECISION

A decision was made
after New Year's day
I will not be writing
poems about smiling
rather I'll be covering
themes about everything
that comes to mind
oh how sublime.

But hey, smile, be happy for me will ya?

I have found it hard
to be joyful at heart
during times of pain
and moments of rain
hence is why I
have decided this time
to include sorrow
and dark and hollow
because this period
is harsh and serious.

Hey, smile, be happy for me will ya?

As you all know
my Island glow
has grown weary
after my Psalms theme
and I'm having issues
that can't be chased by tissues
and Spotify uplifting playlists
or my mom's magical kisses
Bear with me please
I am down on my knees

Smile!  Be happy for me will ya?

Thanks for the loyalty
Thanks for reading my poetry.
I need time and energy.
to steer this era of need.

Be happy for me will ya?

Smile #28: DESIGN OF A LOVER

This was written for Poets United's Midweek Motif:
Design

(Season's greetings everyone!
I wrote this for your entertainment
and describes an "idealistic" lover...
My imaginary significant other.)

Tonight I look at my computer
drink my bottle of water
hug myself, sniff my sweater
heck, I'm grown, still a dreamer
This is my design of a lover

Someone who's kind
says Amen to be mine
who makes me smile
who is the right kind of wild
I'd like that in a lover

Someone who's diligent
and with lots of patience
who wears all kinds of hats
strong like a dog, clean like a cat
I'd like that in a lover

Someone who's parental
likes to hold and cuddle
who knows how to nurture
50 % mother, 50% father
I'd like that from a lover

Someone who's not afraid
of me and my insane
who wants me to be strong
fearless but calm
I'd like that from my lover

Someone who's accepting
of my mom and siblings
who enjoys family-together's
and also lone time endeavors
I'd like that my future lover

Someone who's beautiful
in heart, mind, and soul
who will be there for me
through my times of need
I'd like that my future lover

Tonight I look at my computer
and think of all I am hoping for
No one will be all those things
This is just wishful thinking
So ends this design of a lover...

Smile #27: ALL I AM

******
***
*

All I am
would you prefer
please my friend
love me for my colors...

Every day I say to myself
I am what I am
I can't change for anyone
I am part of God's plan

Every time I look at me
I understand
I am not what you believe
I am a good, good man

All I am
please take or leave
show me you can
love me for me

and all I want
is for you
to see beyond
my flaws, my hues

Every night I pray
to God for your sake
Every night I cry
for God to make you mine

and every dream I dream
is of you and me

Cause all I am
I want you to accept
give me a chance
to show you my best

and all I need
is for you to see
that I am worthy
of your fantasies.

Smile #26: ENERGETIC

Hello my dear Merry's and Jolly's!

Today, I break the interval by releasing this poem specially written for my loyal readers
who checked in yesterday to find that I still have not released a smile for my blog.  This is not
a Christmas poem even though the image that accompanies it is of the dear Nativity Scene
of Christmas.  It is my response to a Poets United's Midweek Motif sometime ago that I
did not get to participate in.  Well, I think I also must announce today that after much
thinking and debating, I guess I will be using a lot of spirituality and religious references
in my works because that is who I am.  A lover of spirituality and religion.

I hope you enjoy this piece because it is true.  God makes me feel alive and important.
God bless,

Jamztoma

molded by you
enchanted by you
celebrated by you

I'm your own creation
I'm your sweet sensation

it is by you
I feel so energetic
it is by you
I feel the magic
tonight.

elevated by you
infatuated by you
so influenced by you

to be my own individual
to be my own soul

it is by you
I feel energetic
it is by you
I feel the magic
of life.

all my happiness comes from you
all my success erupt from you

saved by you
electrified by you
endorsed by you

I'm loving you oh God
I'm becoming like you God

it is by you
I feel so energetic
it is by you
I feel the magic
when I die...

Lament Moment: OUT OF IDEAS

Dear fans and fellow poets and writers,

i wrote this poem just for you because honestly, this era is kind of hard to keep up with as no one is that happy all the time.  this is a lament moment just for you who misses my works and drops by only to find that i don't have a poem posted up.  i have been absent from Poets United's Midweek Motifs and Poetry Pantries for quite awhile so here's a piece for you.  My Thanksgiving was lovely.  Me and my family had guests (cousins) over and there was a lot of food and drinks and stories to tell.  Thank you once again for enjoying my works (for those who do).  Please consider ordering one of my books advertised to the right of this poem for yourself or a loved one this Christmas season.  God bless and have a great one wherever you are tuning in from.

Hey there Writers!
Sorry for the M.I.A.
I've been under the weather
and not getting my way

All my creativity flew out the window
All my abilities got down to zero

I am out of ideas
I went down to nostalgia
came back empty
here's to you from me
I'm definitely out of ideas!

Hey there fellow Poets!
How were your Thanksgivings?
I'm sorry for my absence
Had to pause from writing

Cause all of my creativity are on vacation
and currently, I need to feed my imagination!

I am out of ideas
I am currently in Melancholia
my smiles are gone
I don't see the sun
I'm definitely out of ideas!

Hey there Fans!
Bear with me please
Hope you understand
My muse is on leave...

I came up with this lament moment
to say that smiles also need rest!

I am out of ideas!
But I'll be back with gardenias!
my smiles will return
they will be rightfully earned
I'll be back with ideas!

Bye for now...

Smile #25: TRY AND TRY AND TRY

This was written for the Midweek Motif: Mercy
but I was not able to finish it on time.  So here it is for today.  Enjoy!

If you're wondering, yes, this was partly inspired by
P!nk's song: "Try" from P!nk's 2012 album, The Truth About Love and
Aaliyah's song: "Try Again." from Aaliyah's 2000 Romeo Must Die soundtrack album.

My whole life I've struggled
through the physical, verbal, and mental
I cried and cried forever
I was a victim and a prisoner

I felt so alone
Love had me disowned
the devil treated me like Job [Jobe]
I was left out in the cold

Until just recently
I received God's mercy
I was shown the good life
All I had to do was try.

Try and try and try
Learn to grow and survive

My big mouth got me in trouble
and I am a unique individual
I died and died forever
I was always a bother

I felt so weak
They took away my needs
the devil laughed in my face
I was cold and afraid

Until just recently
I received God's mercy
I was given the good life
All I had to do was try.

Try and try and try
Learn to grow and survive
Try and try and try
Got to live the good life!

No need to cry
God will show us mercy
When we try and try and try
The best is yet to be...

Smile #24: THE RIVER

This was written for Poets United's Midweek Motif:
"River"

I sang on my way to the river
far behind the old laundromat store
next to the big building where
me and friends used to play
truth or dare.

It was a spiritual song
one that has lived on
from years when I
was six years young
to now where I am
experienced, calm
and everything
but strong.

When I was a teenager
I used to steal away
to this river and linger
there from noon until
I had to leave for dinner.
It holds a lot of different
memories this river.

It is where Joe almost drowned
It is where Meg ruined
her pretty purple Prom gown.
It is where I used to come to
to escape their words
and frowns.

It was where games were played
and how I was dismayed
to see Nat's attention stray
from me and James
to that show-off Wade

It is where fish were caught
and placed in pots
to be boiled with
onion and salt
deliciously hot
just like those
store-bought

I'm going to say goodbye
to this river:
"Farewell my lover.
You have done me well
with your soothing waters."
Gone are my tears
Mended are my fears
I have matured.

Smile so sincere:
"Goodbye old Beaver."

Smile #23: WITHOUT YOU

This was written for Poets United's Midweek Motif:

Lying in the shade
of the oak tree
thinking of the way
you treated me
I'll be strong
moving on
have a blessed day

You bluffed
Now we're done
I've had enough
You had your fun

Without you
I am full of
Tranquility
Without you
I can live
in peace and harmony

Now that I'm single
feeling so free
sharing smiles
living my dream
I can mend
make new friends
get a new style

No more you
I feel blessed
You do you
and I'll do my best

My heart
is filled again
with tranquility
My heart
is in heaven
good to be free.

Without you
I am full of tranquility
You do you
and I'll do me.

I am now in a place
where there's no heat and blaze
just ovals so lovely
tranquility.

Smile #22: IT'S THE SABBATH

a sunlight comes through
drying up the morning dew
while birds sing their odes anew
it's the Sabbath all of you.

out of bed, get ready
prepare soul and body
my God is waiting
to church I hurry.

Rejoice, rejoice
through the road of noise
making way a voice
it's Sunday enjoy!

Smile #21: GRAVITY

This was written for
Poets United's Midweek Motif:
"Gravity"

I feel like I am no longer happy
anymore, anymore
I feel like I am losing energy
 more and more
no one's coming to my rescue
nobody at the door
no one's listening to my blues
I'm cold and all forlorn

To the sky I reached
said a prayer to Him who sees
send someone to come to my needs
I'm losing ground I'm so weak

and then He says;
I'm sending out my gravity
to pull you down onto your feet
fend off the wings of misery
that threaten to fly you off
to somewhere dreary...

I feel like no one loves me
I need someone, I need love
I feel that its wrong to be free
I need a friend, a second chance
here I am floating all empty
I need a happy ending

To the sky I reached
said a prayer to Him who sees
send someone that feels my needs
I'm losing ground I can't breathe

and then He says:
I'm sending out my gravity
to make you stand on your feet
and drain you of misery
that makes you unhappy

and so he answered my plea:
I eventually got my gravity
she helps me feel grounded you see
gives me honor and dignity,
I no longer feel so alone and weak
I have found my true love indeed...

all smiles and thanks
to the God of everything.

Smile #20: CHINESE NIGHT-OUT

This was written for Poets United's Poetry Pantry #272

What would happen
one evening
on a day of the weekend
Saturday or Sunday?

Craving Chinese
their spicy cuisine
made with pork,
chicken, or beef
looking good on
a porcelain plate.

Brother offers
to treat me and mother
for dinner
at Chinese place.

Lovely night
Very nice
raining outside
short drive.
heart so tamed.

Waitress happy
Clerks happy
Everyone laughing
Night of memories.
Feast away...

Tasty meal
a great deal
made me feel
warm and thrilled
our smiles were real.
Happy for days!

Smile #19: HEAL YOUR HEART

This was written for Poets United's Midweek Motif :

Heal your heart
with my poem of soothing
words, my uplifting art,
my blog of smiles, heal your heart
with my world of sunshine.

Bless your heart
with my words of music,
music so humble, full of spirit,
as gentle and hearty and thick
so you will feel good inside.

Open your heart
to the opportunities galore
that are flowing more and more
into your mind and heart's doors.
Open your heart and you will find...

Love,
Direction.
Solutions,
Companions,
Success

and these shall make you smile.
Make you recover,
Make you jump a mile,
Make you discover....

Bliss.

Smile #18: NETFLIX

This was written for Poets United's Poetry Pantry #271

I just ordered for myself
a monthly plan of Netflix
It's my treat to myself
to find out what's in/now/next

I smile because this is the future
I smile because this is my pleasure

This is definitely the season
for a horror movie marathon
This is definitely a good reason
to sleep with the lights on!

I smile because I love twists
I smile because I love risks

This is definitely the option
I needed for my depression
This is definitely the medication
I needed for motivation.

I smile because of this notion
I smile because of the inspiration

I am glad it is not expensive
because I'm out of dollars and cents
I know I won't be wasting my life
this is just for my leisure times.

I smile because I love movies
I smile because I love stories.

Smile #17: LET MY SONG BE DELICATE

this was written for Poets United's Midweek Motif:

Let my song be delicate
a ballad for the less fortunate
let it be heard in the halls and rooms
that hold the homeless and the abused

let it calm a hungry child's tears
let it stop a battered woman's fears
Let my song be delicate
may it help the mentally ill get some rest.

Let my song be heard by Kings and Queens
let it bring some nations to peace
a tune crafted from birds and infants
let it bring justice to those who are innocent.

Let my song be hard to forget
let it spin in the air and cause happiness
may it inspire the sad, the meek, and the low
to rise up and succeed wherever they go

Let my song be delicate
a midtempo for those with illness
let it echo across the mountains and fields
so that the world will be salved and healed.

and I, in my place in the basement
will smile and dance in rejoicement.

Smile #16: WHEN BEAUTY FADES (A NEW BEAUTY IS MADE)

This poem was written for Poets United's Poetry Pantry #269

When beauty fades
a new beauty is made...

The autumn scene
is a work of dreams
with leaves falling from trees
a slight chill in the breeze

Lazy and sleepy
my eyes are heavy

The autumn scene
is likely hoodies and jeans
with football on tv
and candies on Halloween

Dark and sweet
decaying little treats

The autumn scene
is a reunion of families
the winter's just a tease
time for a Thanksgiving feast

Smiles and beauty
time for good memories

Smile #15: SAVIOUR

This was written for Poets United's Poetry Pantry #268

When the world gets too crazy
and there's no one to talk to
I just go to the backyard
and think of you.

When the noise of the television
becomes too loud
and my mind is spinning around and around
I just go to the backyard
and gaze at the stars.

It's in the backyard
I am not too hard
on myself on myself

When the brain is too much
and my family's out of touch
I just go to the backyard
and look out for your star.

When there's a lot of hurt
that I become so disturbed
with my mind all alert
I just go to the backyard
and tend to my scars.

There I say a word
or two or four or more
to my listening Lord
to heal my wounds and sores

It's in this place
I can feel the embrace
of the one who loves me always.

And my tears turn to joy
And I no longer cry
And I begin to smile
And see through the night.

There you are Jesus...
.

Smile #14: PEACEFUL MORNING

This was written for Poets United's Poetry Pantry #267

One morning I was early
Took the early bus on early schedule
Early people chatting stories
I just snoozed and breathed and breathed
No one gave me hardship
No one even noticed
the smile on exhibit

One peaceful morning.

It was a peaceful morning
Stopped the bus and got out
Nobody acted weird
I just walked, the air was clear
No one gave me a headache
No one caused a quake.
The sun was fully awake

One peaceful morning..

I knew I was early to work
so I sat at a bus stop
read the paper, the Enquirer
while cars rushed to beat the clock
the air was so fresh
early morning air that's not wet
No one tried to make me sad
No one acted weird or bad.

One peaceful morning

I'm so renewed
I'm so feeling glad and good
My morning went alright
So far I'm not teary-eyed
God bless the day I'm all like
"This is it, for the first time
I'm on Earth I'm feeling fine
No one is being a bully
No one is out to get me.

One peaceful morning.

Smile #13: FINALLY

Written for Poets United's Poetry Pantry #266

At last
someone understands me
willing to set me free
from my demons.

At last
someone shows me mercy
willing to feel sorry
for me in my prison.

In chains
I was crying out in pain
I was possessed by the devil
believed his lies, his ways of evil

At last
I have realized
I've been following lies
and wasting gifts

At last
After so many tries
I'm in my paradise
and God He lives!

I praise
my will to escape
the lie of wanting fame
for reasons I cannot say.

So at peace
So at ease
I'm on my knees
I've been set freed.

Smile #12: CARNIVAL RIDE

written for Poets United's Poetry Pantry #264

oh, oh you so fly
you are lifted to the skies
from you comes an excited cry
as you go on a carnival ride

you are the king of the world
you are the coolest guy
smile you own this world
you are looking fine.

up, up you fly
strapped to your seat so tight
less you fall and surely die
as you go on a carnival ride

you are the king of the world
you are loving life!
smile you own this world
you are gonna be fine

live for the moment
push all hurts aside
smile it's your moment
what an exciting carnival ride!

Smile #11: KINDNESS

This was written for Poets United's Poetry Pantry #262

You know:
it's the touch of your hand
on my back
it's the stretch of your lips
towards my glance
it's the soft way you speak
to my face
it's the cash that you give
in some private place

that makes me smile and weep
causes my heart to leap
and assures me to sleep
knowing that you are a kind soul
with a heart made of gold.

You know:
it's the quick way you serve
me when I need help
it's the love that you gave
while I was burning in hell
it's the sacrifice you made
when I was hungry
it's the nice things you did
for me and my family

that makes me  smile and say
don't worry everything's okay
that there are nice people in this age
with hearts so good and tame

I will never forget love
I will never forget kindness
I am sorry for my wrongs
I wish you the best.

Smile #10: IMAGINATION

This was written for Poets United's Poetry Pantry #261

*****

My favorite game in all the universe
is the one where your mind pictures
all these sceneries and all these wonders
that only in the brain can they occur.

And I just smile!

Of course, some of these mental figments
have been realized by people past and present
but most just stay waiting to happen
maybe in the next 5 years or ten

And I just smile!

What makes me smile when I imagine
is the way I am taken to a perfect location
or the way I meet someone impeccable
or the way I achieve something remarkable

And I just smile!

My greatest dream is to live a happy life
Through the obstacles that stand at the sides
My greatest wish is to enjoy my life
To be stress-free and have peace of mind

And I just smile!

One step to using my vast imagination
is to create a story drawn from experience
and fill it with all the elements
of a good book with merit and substance.

Smile #9: FREEDOM

When I was born
I was given rights:
to life, to liberty, to the pursuit of happiness.
Yes...
To sum these up:
Freedom.

No one is the boss of me.
I can be all I can be.
(Malcolm in the Middle and the U.S. Army)

So sing and shout
Let it all out:
I'm free as a bird
I'm free to express myself and be absurd

In other countries
No one is free
In other countries
No one can stop me!

When I was born
I became free of my mom
When I grew up
I became free of my mom
To be free is to be out
To be free is to be loud.

And I say thank you America
And I praise you America
Land of the free
and Home of the brave.
so let's celebrate!

When I was born
I was naturally given three rights:
Life,
Liberty,
and the pursuit of happiness.
To sum it all up:
Freedom.

Only in America.

I'm happy.

Smile #8: THE SEASON OF SUMMER!

Oh the season of summer makes me smile
Makes me smile it's my season of style

This is when I wear my sleeveless shirts
Of different designs, different colors

This is when I dab cologne on my skin
And wear deodorant to give me some scent.

This is when the sun is out full blown
A fire in the blue sky, the day's circle of gold.

Oh the season of summer makes me smile
Makes me smile like a mischievous child.

To have grown up in the Pacific islands
Where it's summer all through without an end.

To enjoy Vanilla ice cream or Pina Colada
Just as if you are in Katy Perry's Candyfornia

To go cruising in a convertible during the midday
Like a Ken doll doing nothing but fun and play

Oh the season of summer makes me smile
Makes me smile cause I feel so worthwhile.

And I am tanning myself on a beach
Letting my body get some needed Vitamin D

And I am excitedly typing on my Toshiba laptop
a poem that's entirely about my God

And I am celebrating the 4th of July
Like I am a firework in the sky.

Oh the season of summer makes me smile
Makes me smile it's my season of style.

Smile #7: AMAZING (MAGIC IN ALL THE RIGHT PLACES)

*****
**
*****

There's magic in all the right places
in the good-hearted people's faces
And when you have control over yourself
you have the right to get out of hell
and pursue what makes you smile
and who makes you feel worthwhile

Isn't it magical to have a blessed life?
Isn't it wonderful to live without strife?
Isn't it amazing?

There's magic in all the right places
in the people who sing you your praises
Because they have it in their good hearts
to compliment you on what sets you apart
from the rest of the negative odds
who only know you by your every flaw

Isn't it magical to pursue happiness?
Isn't it beautiful to live without sadness?
Isn't it amazing?

There really is no secret to happiness...
As long as you stay out of trouble
As long as you avoid the wrong people
There really is no secret to success...

Be wise, make the right choices
Follow the good-hearted voices
Avoid the ones who just live for evil
And then you won't be miserable.

Smile!

Smile #6: MY SISTER'S KIDS

****

If there's something that makes me smile
it's the sight and sounds of my sister's kids
small, pudgy, bony, tweenie, and little
young, feisty, spunky group of sibs

There's Chano, eldest and smart
There's Ronnie, a pretty little star
then there's Tilda, chatty and funny
and TJ the youngest still a baby

I talk to them by phone and Skype
they would make me smile with joy every time
they remind me of children's books' characters
they are also witty and extremely clever

There are times I would get dismayed
But their voices would always melt my heart
I pray to see them soon, someday
this I would say to myself in the dark.

My sister's kids I hope will care
for me in my old age in the future
She's so fortunate to have them all
and I'm very happy to be their Uncle.

Smile #5: SIMPLICITY

Into my book of life
From my scarcity to plenty
I was most elated
during times of simplicity

There was meager distress
Gold went to significance
Peers surrounded self
and chances were an abundance

Obscured and elementary
Acquiescent and modest
I attained euphoria
and joy that was endless

One night of blunder
a decade of sorrow
Sailor without aim
hatred for the morrow

Full-time occupation
with strained performance
A hullabaloo of issues
sparked dramatic occurrence

Now a mantra of tranquility
and reading of the Psalms
with liberty from adversity
life is sweet and calm.

Smile #4: IMPROVEMENT

I am very pleased
with the way things have been
since you decided to release
and let go of our past
my life's back on track
Thank you man!

I can now plan for the future
my mind is hopeful it shimmers
with ideas
with goals
and I sing with gusto:
Thank you bro!

Slowly I am regulating
my thoughts
my beliefs
steering them to finer things
to act upon consideration
Cheers to moderation!

I am very pleased
with all the support received
since the personal tragedy
and the endless defeats
it's slow but I know
I can achieve so many goals
by just letting go...

Smile #3: RESPECT

My response to Poets United's Midweek Motif: Honoring Our Elders

Honor thy mother and thy father and thy days shall be endless.
Honor thy elders forever and ever and thy days shall be bliss.

It is an honor
to respect my elders
mother and father
grandfather, grandmother

It makes me beam
to remember your great deeds
that you so willingly
did for me.

same for you uncles and aunts
nothing but praises and thanks

It makes me stand tall
thinking of all your sacrifices
I won't forget you all
this I promise

What an honor
to respect you my elders
for I really concur
that respect will be returned.

Honor thy mother and thy father and your days shall be endless.
Honor thy elders forever and ever and thy days shall be bliss.

Smile #2: JUSTICE

My Response to Poets United's Midweek Motif:
JUSTICE or POETIC JUSTICE

Spring flowers here in Silver Spring, MD (USA).

You know I've lost much due to my fears
you know I've suffered for years and years
for too long I've held my breath
for so long I've wished for death

But you gave me hope
You helped me grow
You believed in me so...

this happiness I feel?
is happiness that's real
it's justice for the times I've dealt
with lies, hate, and hell.

You know I've stressed for so many nights
cause I chose humility and did what was right
for too long I've bled inside
for too long I've looked for a sign

Then you gave me hope
You helped me grow
You believed in me so...

this happiness I feel?
is happiness that's real
it's justice for the times I've knelt
in church for God's help.

this happiness I feel?
It's justice for all my struggles
It's justice for all my sorrows
I deserve all this joy and hope.

this happiness I've found?
Is justice for all my frowns
Is justice for all my downs
I deserve this blessing and crown.

You deserve your blessing and crown...

Smile #1: OPTIMISTIC

At the moment I am fine
laughing, smiling, feeling high
forward is the word you know

At the moment all is right
good people and good times
forward is all I know

ooh...I'm happy, moving on
ooh...Life's so sunny, nothing's wrong

I'm not hopeless, I'm so blessed
My graces are limitless
I'm optimistic--oh yes!

I no longer need to weep
I am living my dreams
I am perfect in God's eyes

I no longer lose my sleep
God and Science both help me
Life is perfect in their lights

ooh...I'm happy, moving on
ooh...Life's so steady, nothing's wrong
I'm not hopeless, I'm so blessed
My gifts are limitless
I'm optimistic--oh yes!

Tell myself no worries
I can make it just believe
Don't give up so easily
Tell myself I don't need
to be in bad company
Get out and achieve!

I'm optimistic--oh yes!
