Smile #16: WHEN BEAUTY FADES (A NEW BEAUTY IS MADE)

This poem was written for Poets United's Poetry Pantry #269

When beauty fades
a new beauty is made...

The autumn scene
is a work of dreams
with leaves falling from trees
a slight chill in the breeze

Lazy and sleepy
my eyes are heavy

The autumn scene
is likely hoodies and jeans
with football on tv
and candies on Halloween

Dark and sweet
decaying little treats

The autumn scene
is a reunion of families
the winter's just a tease
time for a Thanksgiving feast

Smiles and beauty
time for good memories

  1. Hi James, your poem has really captured the spirit of autumn. So true that when one kind of beauty fades another replaces it. And, ha, don't you just love that football on television?

  9. How right it is to welcome every season as it makes it's rounds. Even we would not be satisfied with constancy but crave change in our lives.

  11. yes fall is upon us and i will appreciate the wonderful color and cool air transition but i am not looking forward to winter. my aging body screams of stiffness, arthritic aches and diminished sun rays by the grey of winter
