Smile #23: WITHOUT YOU

This was written for Poets United's Midweek Motif:

Lying in the shade
of the oak tree
thinking of the way
you treated me
I'll be strong
moving on
have a blessed day

You bluffed
Now we're done
I've had enough
You had your fun

Without you
I am full of
Tranquility
Without you
I can live
in peace and harmony

Now that I'm single
feeling so free
sharing smiles
living my dream
I can mend
make new friends
get a new style

No more you
I feel blessed
You do you
and I'll do my best

My heart
is filled again
with tranquility
My heart
is in heaven
good to be free.

Without you
I am full of tranquility
You do you
and I'll do me.

I am now in a place
where there's no heat and blaze
just ovals so lovely
tranquility.

  1. James, I COMPLETELY relate to this poem. I love "you do you, and I'll do my best". It sounds like this is a definite return to tranquility, though I am sure there was some heartache as well. I love this poem. You have such a good heart.

A big you-turn is called for when the way you are used is that puzzling. I'll take the alone time under the oak tree.

  4. I wish you well as you recover and rediscover tranquility. Alone is definitely better than used.

    1. thanks Victoria. I do need all the luck and prayers I can get to completely mend and come out strong again. I am currently recovering from an internship I underwent for two years. I miss it so much, it was that fun. :)

  5. I agree with Sherry - that is absolutely my favourite line - there is no bitterness here just a very wise acknowledgement of knowing what is best for ourselves and maybe the other person too...too often we cling onto people for all the wrong reasons..and that can never be tranquil

    1. Hi Jae, I like your words: wise acknowledgment. that's what I would want for my poetry: positive messages to you my readers. I will get to your poem later on. I am currently tired of seeing the written word. that's because I have been trying to read for my schoolwork, lol. :) lovely day to you!

  8. I think sometimes it is better to be alone and tranquil than in some kind of a turbulent situation. It sounds like you are feeling good about the place you are in life. Good luck to you in your studies, James.

  9. When stormy, unhappy relationships end, one can reach a state of tranquillity. Your poem describes this well, James. Well-penned!

    1. thanks Nicholas. it however was based on a different situation: where one had to say goodbye to a gift one received and now one's trying to live the best he can.
have a great day where you are!
