A Diverse Rainforest, the City Life, and of course Matica and her Birds!
Okay! You will definitely love this story as I enjoyed it very much these past four days of my life. Matica returns in this epic adventure with her birds and this time she and her father make a long, eventful trip on foot to the neighboring village of Bambamarca and the city of Cajamarca from their village of Pucara all within the South American nation of Peru. Crayn, her father, needed to get to Cajamarca to make arrangements for their family’s anticipated big trip to their home country of Australia as they are missionaries originally from there.
The thing about this book is that it was so colorful and exotic with all the strange creatures Matica and Crayn saw as they traversed through a jungle then a rainforest before arriving in Bambamarca. There were multicolored macaws, toucans, and monkeys and nut-eating piranhas. There were also some really beautiful but different plants and flowers like the giant lobelias that Matica did not fancy once she touched them. I tell you, the author of this book, Gigi Sedlmayer did her research extremely well or was delineating each of these things from experience as this book is like a biology textbook with all the knowledge Crayn had of them. It was a really nice read I have to say as it started slow in the beginning but eventually became interesting and amazing by the middle and end parts.
And all through the book, Sedlmayer adds bits and pieces of her Christian faith with Matica and Crayn relying on it and Biblical knowledge to help them get through the journey. If you are looking for one that is family-oriented and speaks like good old-fashioned children’s books of back in the days, this series are the books to order. I won’t spoil the fun for you as I had my own fun of discovering so much from this book through its pages it left me in awe afterwards. And if you’re wondering about the birds, especially Talon who this series is based on, yes, he is a huge big deal in here too. I recommend this book highly for children and adults because aside from the innocence, there is also Sedlmayer’s excellent literary skills to note. Also, her editing skills are superb.
So from me to you, get this book for your home library or for your e-reading device. You won’t regret it, I promise!
